Travel Blog: From Hercules to Vallejo

Good afternoon, readers! As I write this, we've got plans to leave for the north with a buddy on a travel forum my husband frequents. He'll be here in about six hours or so.

Yesterday, we walked to the town of Hercules and loitered in their Starbucks until closing time, then walked for a bit along San Pablo Avenue. Let me tell you, it gets scary walking past the refinery at night! There is no sidewalk, so you must walk on the road, and the noise from the refinery disguises the noise of passing cars, so you really have to keep an eye out. We were safe, but I was very nervous walking through there.

We took San Pablo Avenue (which turned into Parker and then back into San Pablo) to a small city called Crockett and slept on a crosswalk divide. I got a bug bite on my eyelid that was thankfully reduced when I took a couple of anti-inflammatory pills. Note to all: Don't take a couple of anti-inflammatories unless specifically directed to do so. I was so loopy, I had to sit down and take a nap until the world stopped spinning.

Below, please enjoy my touristy shit pictures from earlier!

After a bit of walking, we reached the city of Rodeo.

A charming little statue I saw in someone's yard.

We weren't sure if this was a church, a bank, or a club.

This was the view walking along San Pablo Ave at night.

Loki wanted to know if that was toilet paper to our right. No, it wasn't, thankfully.

After a while, we reached Crockett. There we slept.

Loki had me take a picture of the bridge as we approached it. He was glad about FINALLY getting there.

Look at me being miserable with a homemade eye patch because I couldn't open my eye all the way ;_; Rude bug, biting my eyelid.

This is the bridge we walked across.

Various views of this GORGEOUS area until we came to a tourist restaurant...

Clearly, we did not eat here.

but they did have this nice fountain

and Loki said the clock was the only pretty thing in the area besides little 'gyn.

LOOK, GUYS, IT'S THE BAY TRAIL AGAIN!

More views from the walkalong bridge as we finally got onto it, including a shadow selfie.

We are no longer in Contra Costa County, but Selano County.

The views once we got off the bridge aren't anything to sneeze at, either.

Looks like the Bay Trail extends a bit farther than we were led to believe in Berkeley.

This was meant to be a picture of glistening dew, not a shadow selfie.

We have reached Vallejo! I slept here for a bit before we walked a few minutes to Starbucks, where we are waiting for our new friend to pick us up at 9.
